About Our Organization
Since 1988 Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County has been building homes in partnership with families in need of simple, decent, affordable housing. Future homeowners invest “sweat equity” building their own homes and those of others, taking a series of homeowner education courses, and then purchasing their homes with affordable mortgages. Those mortgage payments are then recycled back to Habitat to help build more homes. Gifts to sponsor Habitat homes are reinvested into building homes for more families as mortgages are paid. More than 180 Monroe County families are now experiencing stability because of their Habitat home.
